Kyoto Mountain Picnic & Hike: Kurama to Kifune

5 hours

Moderate

Escape Kyoto’s busy streets on a relaxing adventure through the mountains of Kurama and Kibune. Hike peaceful forests, visit historic sites, enjoy a Japanese picnic, and discover a quieter side of Kyoto with fellow travelers.

Escape the busy streets of Kyoto and spend a relaxing day exploring the beautiful mountains of northern Kyoto.

Join a small group and travel together from Kyoto to the traditional mountain village of Kurama. Walk through peaceful forests, visit historic temples and shrines, and follow the scenic trail toward Kibune.

Along the way, enjoy a simple Japanese-style picnic surrounded by nature, take photos, and learn about local culture and everyday life from your host. This is a relaxed outdoor experience rather than a formal sightseeing tour, so there is plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, chat with other travelers, and experience Kyoto at a slower pace.

The experience finishes in the beautiful Kibune area, where you can visit Kifune Shrine and explore the surrounding village before returning to Kyoto independently.
